The 2025 Sanya Rose Culture Festival opened on Wednesday evening at the Yalong Bay International Rose Valley in Sanya, Hainan province, marking the start of a 10-day celebration.
The opening ceremony featured original dance performances, theatrical scenes and a traditional Li ethnic wedding fashion show, blending orchestral music, ballet and intangible cultural heritage elements, captivating the local and international guests.
Running until April 18, the festival includes a rose-adorned pathway, floral float parades and pop-up musical performances across the coastal city. More than 150 multilingual love-themed messages decorate bridges, while nearly 10,000 roses will be given away to participants.

Additional events include matchmaking gatherings, yacht tours, floral art exhibitions and collaborations with local beverage brands to promote romantic tourism. Organizers say the festival aims to boost Sanya's reputation as a romantic destination while fostering an economic ecosystem around its thriving rose industry.
By integrating culture, tourism and commerce, the event seeks to add to Sanya's appeal as an international travel hotspot.
